A 15-year-old suspect now sits in juvenile detention following a gang-related shootout at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival that left three people dead and four others wounded, including a 2-year-old boy caught in the crossfire. Police believe at least three shooters exchanged gunfire while hundreds of thousands attended the free family event Sunday evening.

Three Shooters Identified in Public Massacre

Seattle Police Assistant Chief Nicole Powell confirmed investigators believe the shooting stemmed from gang violence between two groups firing at each other. Court documents reveal the detained 15-year-old and a 19-year-old accomplice engaged in a gunfight with at least one other unknown suspect still at large. The 19-year-old shooter, identified as Junior Cee Niko Semo, died at the scene. Two innocent bystanders, Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, 44, and Ashley Whitehead, 56, were killed in the crossfire.

Villalba, a husband and father of three known for helping others in his community, died from a gunshot wound to his torso. At least seven victims were struck by bullets, possibly eight, according to authorities. One victim was simply walking a bicycle when gunfire erupted just after 6 p.m. at the Seattle Center.

Toddler Among Four Injured Victims

A 2-year-old boy accompanying his mother sustained injuries requiring hospitalization at Harborview Medical Center. By Monday morning, the toddler remained in satisfactory condition. Three other wounded victims, two men aged 23 and 27 and a 39-year-old woman, received treatment and were discharged. Emergency dispatch audio captured responders requesting a small child tourniquet at the scene, highlighting the chaos as festival attendees ran for their lives.

Eyewitness Justice Beitzel, who was eating with friends near a concert stage, described hearing six or seven gunshots before masses of people stampeded toward them. Video footage showed large crowds knocking down fencing to escape the violence. Two victims were declared dead at the scene, while a third died after transport to a local hospital.

Second Suspect Remains At Large

Seattle Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis stated authorities believe there is no ongoing threat to the public, though investigators continue searching for at least one additional shooter involved in the gang-related violence. Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues. The incident marks another tragic example of Americans victimized by gun violence while participating in everyday community activities. The Bite of Seattle, an annual food festival drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors, became the latest location where families seeking entertainment encountered deadly crossfire between criminal elements.
