Government RELEASES UFO Files: Colorado Springs Sighting

The federal government released new eyewitness accounts and documents detailing unidentified aerial phenomena spotted over American skies, including a strange object witnessed hovering above Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2022.

White Plasma Spheres Captured on iPhone

A 2025 incident documented in newly released files describes a witness encountering what they called a “white plasma sun” roughly the size of a basketball. According to heavily redacted documents, an intense bright light appeared as the witness pulled into a driveway at 9:15 p.m. in an undisclosed Northeast location. The light hovered approximately 25 feet above ground level as the witness attempted to record it.

The witness and a second observer reported seeing an identical sphere appear above the first orb, which then rose slowly and drifted leftward. Using an iPhone 14 Pro Max, the witness captured video footage that the government subsequently released. Both spheres moved westward over a neighboring tree line, traveling silently and smoothly in what appeared to be coordinated formation, as if connected or flying together deliberately. The witnesses stated the orbs seemed to merge before disappearing from view at roughly 75 yards distance.

Colorado Springs Potato-Shaped Phenomenon

The documents detail a separate 2022 incident near Colorado Springs that military personnel reported to the Anomaly Resolution Office in 2023. Observers described the phenomenon as resembling an “angular, non-symmetrical potato” hovering over the area. An artist’s impression of this sighting was released by the Department of War on June 12. The Anomaly Resolution Office’s intelligence community partner offered a low-confidence assessment attributing the sighting to sunlight backscattering, where sunlight reflecting from snow-covered mountains illuminated low-altitude cloud undersides.

Unresolved Government Classification

The government classified these documented events as unresolved because officials cannot definitively determine the nature of what witnesses observed. Insufficient data represents one of several reasons preventing conclusive identification of the phenomena. The release of these files adds to growing public interest in unexplained aerial sightings reported across the United States. Federal authorities continue gathering eyewitness testimony and physical evidence while investigating incidents that defy conventional explanation, though many cases remain without definitive conclusions due to limited available information or unclear observational circumstances.
