Amazon Worker Killed Heading Home From Work
Kyle T. Bickham was traveling home from his shift at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero, Illinois, on September 7 when the attack occurred at the 69th Street station. The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide, citing multiple injuries from being struck by a train after falling onto the electrified third rail. Police arrested the teenage girl four days later on September 11 after detectives identified her as one of multiple suspects who allegedly used force to push Bickham from the moving CTA train.
The girl faces four felony charges: first-degree murder, mob action, murder by other forcible felony, and aggravated battery to a transit employee. Authorities have not disclosed whether prosecutors will seek to try her as an adult. She appeared in juvenile court on September 14, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Police have not provided a motive for the killing.

Bickham’s parents gathered at the station where their son died, making an emotional appeal for the remaining suspects to surrender. His mother, Latanya Bickham, directly addressed those involved during a September 13 news conference, urging them to turn themselves in. His father, Christopher Bickham Sr., described the loss as the most hurtful experience the family has ever endured. Police confirmed the investigation remains active but declined to release additional details about the outstanding suspects or the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Family members created a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses, describing Bickham as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend known for bringing laughter to everyone around him. His relative Chris Bickham Jr. wrote that Kyle was goofy, kind, and caring—a light whose memory will never fade. The family emphasized that Kyle mattered and deserves a proper homegoing service. The case has shaken the Chicago transit community, raising questions about safety on public transportation and the circumstances that led multiple individuals to allegedly target Bickham without apparent provocation.
